The Software industry is still in its infancy and in the past 20 years it has adopted Agile as a means to drive continuous improvement. It doesn’t have the rigour or culture of going beyond a certain level of improvement as Moore’s Law has meant that inefficiencies and costs have become masked by the power of computing. Software happily releases with defects, it releases late, it batches features together and it is the opposite of a Lean process. Artificial Intelligence has become a paradigm shift with dramatic increases in costs and a layer of complexity being introduced to already fragile ecosystems. Let’s see how Lean can play a role in shaping this industry.
