S.I. No. 281/2014 – European Union (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations 2014

These Regulations are designed to implement the provisions of Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on end-of-life vehicles. They are intended to facilitate the achievement of theî 85% reuse/recovery with 80% reuse/recycling by average weight per vehicle and year, on and from the date of commencement of the Regulations, and 95% reuse/recovery with 85% reuse/recycling by average weight per vehicle and year, by the 1 of January 2015. The Regulations place obligations on each producer to establish a national collection system for the collection of specified vehicles, of that producerôs brand or for which that producer has responsibility, which that producer anticipates will become end-of-life vehicles in the State and will require appropriate treatment and recovery. Each producerôs national collection system will comprise of at least one authorised treatment facility in the functional area of each local authority and must have sufficient capacity to treat the number of end-of-life vehicles, of that producerôs brand or for which that producer is responsible, that arise in any given year.

S.I. No. 161/2014 – Sea-Fisheries (Quotas) Regulations 2014.

These Regulations have the of purpose of giving effect to the provisions of COUNCIL REGULATION (EU) No 43/2014 of 20 January 2014 fixing for 2014 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks, applicable in Union waters and, to Union vessels, in certain non-Union waters.

S.I. No. 149/2014 – European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014.

These Regulations replace the European Communities (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 355 of 2011 ) as amended by the as amended by the European Communities (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 397 of 2011 ) and the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 ( S.I. No. 32 of 2013 ). The purpose of these Regulations is to contribute to sustainable production and consumption by the prevention of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and, in addition, by the re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce the disposal of waste. They also seek to improve the environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment. They will facilitate in particular the achievement of the targets for the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment in an environmentally sound manner established by Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment. The Regulations impose obligations on persons who supply electrical and electronic equipment to the Irish market, whether as retailers, importers or manufacturers. An exemption from these obligations is available to persons who participate in a scheme for the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment in an environmentally sound manner operated by an approved body established in accordance with the provisions of Part IV of these Regulations.

S.I. No. 134/2014 – European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters) (Amendment) Regulations 2014

These Regulations amend the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters) Regulations 2014. The purpose of the amendment is to give effect to the Commission Implementing Decision of 27 February 2014 on granting a derogation requested by Ireland pursuant to Council Directive 91/676/EEC concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. They also make technical amendments to sections 17 and 26 of the 2014 Regulations.

S.I. No. 122/2014 – European Union (Drinking Water) Regulations 2014

The purpose for which these regulations are made is to prescribe quality standards to be applied and related supervision and enforcement procedures in relation to supplies of drinking water, including requirements as to sampling frequency, methods of analysis, the provision of information to consumers and related matters. The Regulations update the European Communities (Drinking Water) (No.2) Regulations, which are duly revoked, to reflect the provisions of Section 7 of the Water Services (No.2) Act 2013 which provide that certain water services functions, which were the responsibility of the water services authorities, are transferred to Irish Water.

S.I. No. 96/2014 – Water Services (No. 2) Act 2013 (Transfer of Other Liabilities) Order 2014

This Statutory Instrument gives effect to the decision of the Minister of the Environment, Community and Local Government to transfer the contracts listed in the schedule to the Order from the water services authorities to Irish Water in accordance with section 14 of the Water Services (No. 2) Act 2013 .
