IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

These Regulations have the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of Council Regulation (EU) 2015/104 of 19 January 2015 fixing for 2015 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks, applicable in Union waters and, for Union vessels, in certain non-Union waters, amending Regulation (EU) No. 43/2014 and repealing Regulation (EU) No. 779/2014.

This instrument gives full effect to COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2015/111 of 26 January 2015 establishing measures to alleviate a serious threat to the conservation of the sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) stock in the Celtic Sea, Channel, Irish Sea and southern North Sea. This instrument applies to fishing vessels and the master(s) of such fishing vessels in the exclusive fishery limits of the State, other than an Irish vessel. Irish fishing vessels and the master(s) of such fishing vessels are bound by S.I. No. 230 of 2006 BASS (CONSERVATION OF STOCKS) REGULATIONS 2006.

This Statutory Instrument gives effect to the decision of the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to transfer the property listed in the Order from each water services authority to Irish Water in accordance with section 12 of the Water Services (No. 2) Act 2013 .

This statutory Instrument gives effect to the decision of the Minister of the Environment, Community and Local Government to prescribe An Post and Approved Housing Bodies as relevant persons for the purposes of section 26 of the Water Services Act 2013 .

Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 aims to progressively eliminate discards in all Union fisheries through the introduction of a landing obligation for catches of species subject to catch limits. This instrument applies to vessels engaged in small pelagic and large pelagic fisheries in relation to species caught in those fisheries which are subject to catch limits from 1 January 2015 in the North West Waters (ICES Zones Vb, VIa, VIb, VII) on a gear by species basis, set out in the regulation.

These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Council Regulation (EU) No 1367/2014 of 15 December 2014 fixing for 2015 and 2016 the annual fishing opportunities available to Community fishing vessels for stocks of deep-sea species in Community waters and in certain non-Community waters where catch limitations are required, and the specific conditions under which such fishing opportunities may be used.

This Order amends the Control of Fishing for Salmon Order 2014 ( S.I. No. 132 of 2014 ), authorising the issue of commercial fishing licences by Inland Fisheries Ireland, and prescribes the maximum number of commercial licences which may be issued.
