IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

The purpose of these regulations is to extend until 1 January, 2018 an exemption provided for under the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 286 of 2009) as amended by the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 504 of 2013) which exists to allow farmers, as a last resort, to dispose of wastes generated by agricultural practices.

This instrument restricts the use of multi-rigged fishing gear to 4 (quad) rigs at the maximum, in order to conserve fish stocks.

These Regulations, amend the Sea-Fisheries (Technical Measures) Regulations 2013 ( S.I. No. 197 of 2013 ) which relate to technical conditions for all fishing operations (e.g. permitted nets, species composition of catches, etc.) to include Regulation (EU) 2015/812 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015 as regards the landing obligation. These regulations make a contravention of any provisions of European legislation implementing technical measures, an offence under the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 .

These Regulations amend the Sea-Fisheries (Conservation and Rational Exploitation of Deep-Sea Species) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 175 of 2006 ) which provide for control measures as well as collection of additional data on deep-sea species, as outlined in Council Regulation (EC) No 2347/2002 of 16 December 2002, as regards specific access requirements and associated conditions applicable to fishing for deep-sea stocks, and amended by Regulation (EU) 2015/812 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015, as regards the landing obligation.

This Statutory Instrument gives effect to the decision of the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to transfer the property listed in the schedule to the Order from water services authorities to Irish Water in accordance with section 12 of the Water Services (No. 2) Act 2013 .

S.I. No. 495/2015 - European Communities (Assessment and Management of Flood Risks) (Amendment) Regulations 2015.

These Regulations have the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of Council Regulation (EU) 2015/104 of 19 January 2015 as amended by Council Regulation (EU) 2015/523 of 25 March 2015 and Council Regulation (EU) 2015/960 of 19 June 2015, fixing for 2015 the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks, applicable in Union waters and, for Union vessels, in certain non-Union waters, amending Regulation (EU) No 43/2014 and repealing Regulation (EU) No 779/2014. This instrument applies to fishing vessels and the master of such fishing vessels in the exclusive fishery limits of the State, other than an Irish vessel. Irish fishing vessels and the master of such fishing vessels are bound by S.I. No. 230 of 2006 Bass (Conservation of Stocks) Regulations 2006.

These Regulations give effect to Article 6 of the E.E.C. Council Directive No. 79/409 of 2nd April, 1979 (O.J. No. L103/1. 25.4.1979), as amended, by adding the Woodcock to the list of species of wild birds of which the sale, transport for sale, keeping for sale and offering for sale is prohibited, in the interest of conservation.
