IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

The area known as Clare Glen Special Area of Conservation 000930 is situated in the counties of Limerick and Tipperary being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townlands of Ashroe, Boarmanshill and Puckane in County Limerick and Scraggeen in County Tipperary.

The area known as Tory Hill Special Area of Conservation 000439 is situated in the county of Limerick being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townlands of Ballycahane Upper, Coologe (E.D. Garrane), Corrabulbeg, Dromloughan South, Garrane (E.D. Garrane), Killeenoghty and Toryhill.

The area known as Cullahill Mountain Special Area of Conservation 000831 is situated in the county of Kilkenny being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townland of Coolnacrutta.

The area known as Carrowbaun, Newhall and Ballylee Turloughs Special Area of Conservation 002293 is situated in the county of Galway being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townlands of Ballyaneen North, Ballylee (E.D. Kiltartan), Carrowbaun East, Carrowbaun West, Cloonanearla, Dromorehill, Newhall, Newtown (E.D. Kiltartan) and Skehanagh (E.D. Skehanagh).

The area known as St. Gobnets Wood Special Area of Conservation 000106 is situated in the county of Cork being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townlands of An Cheapach Thiar, An Seantóir [T: Gort na Tiobratan], An Sliabh Riabhach, Gort na Tiobratan and Magh Réidh.

These Regulations give effect to Council Directive 98/83/EC of 3 November 1998, Commission Directive 2003/40/EC of 16 May 2003, Directive 2009/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009, Commission Regulation (EU) No. 115/2010 of 9 February 2010, Council Directive 2013/51/EURATOM of 22 October 2013 and Commission Directive (EU) 2015/1787 of 6 October 2015. These Regulations set down requirements in relation to bottled waters, in particular natural mineral waters, spring waters and other waters. These Regulations revoke the European Communities (Natural Mineral Waters, Spring Waters and Other Waters in Bottles or Containers) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 225 of 2007 ) and the European Communities (Natural Mineral Waters, Spring Waters and Other Waters in Bottles or Containers) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 686 of 2007 ). These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Natural Mineral Waters, Spring Waters and Other Waters in Bottles or Containers) Regulations 2016.

These Regulations give effect to Directive 2014/101/EU, which amends Annex V of the Water Framework Directive. Annex V of the Water Framework Directive set out the parameters and criteria required to help ensure that the monitoring and assessment of water across all Member States was uniform and consistent. It established a number of international standards for monitoring of the quality elements related to macroinvertebrates used to classify water quality. Since the adoption of the Water Framework Directive, a number of new standards have been published, which address sampling of phytoplankton; macrophytes and phytobenthos; benthic invertebrates; fish and hydromorphological standards. Directive 2014/101/EU updates section 1.3.6 of the Water Framework Directive to include these standards and removes some of the standards listed which are now obsolete. Ireland had not previously transposed section 1.3.6 of Annex V of the Water Framework Directive and these Regulations now transpose that section as amended by Directive 2014/101/EU.

The area known as Knockalongy and Knockachree Cliffs Special Area of Conservation 001669 is situated in the county of Sligo being the land and waters enclosed on the map (contained in Schedule 1) within the inner margin of the red line and hatched in red and is situated in whole or in part in the townlands of Carrowculleen, Farranyharpy and Tawnatrohaun.
