IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

These Regulations add the Mallow Water Supply to the list of public piped water supplies required by the regulations of 1965 to be fluoridated.

The effect of the Order is to set out, in respect of the 1979/80 period, open seasons for certain species of wild birds which are otherwise protected under the Wildlife Act and to exclude from the operation of the open seasons the 57 areas specified in the Order.

The effect of this Order is to set out the Open Seasons during which Deer Species and Hares may be hunted throughout the State and the manner of hunting which may be used.

The effect of these Regulations is to prohibit the export, except under licence from the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, of certain specified wild birds and wild animals live or dead (including game species) and specified parts or products of certain wild birds and wild animals. Nothing in the Regulations restricts, prejudices or affects the Live Pigeons (Prohibition of Export) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 138 of 1971 ) which prohibits the export, except under licence from the Minister for Agriculture, of live pigeons to places other than Northern Ireland.

The Partridge, Pheasant and Grouse (Regulation of Export) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 151 of 1962 ) relating to the prohibition on export, except under licence from the Minister for Agriculture, of those three species of game birds is revoked as from 7th August, 1979.

These Regulations require suppliers to put warning labels on containers for dangerous substances and to ensure that the containers are properly designed, constructed and secured to prevent spillage or seepage during normal use.

These Regulations amend the Private Water Supplies and Sewerage Facilities Regulations, 1963 to provide for increases in the maximum grants payable by the Minster for the Environment, for the installation of water supplies and sewerage facilities in dwelling-houses, where work commences on or after 1st November, 1977.

The provisions of the Regulations relate to procedural matters in relation to licensing of discharges to waters and to sewers, appeals to An Bord Pleanála in relation thereto, registers of licenses and of water abstractions, water quality management plans and other miscellaneous matters under the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 .

This order provides that all appeals under sections 8 and 20 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 shall be brought to An Bord Pleanála, and also for matters incidental, supplementary and consequential to such provision.
