IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

This Order prescribes the special local licence duties payable from 11th February, 1985 in respect of fishing engines used in special tidal waters

These Regulations require the South Eastern Health Board to arrange for the fluoridation of the Ardfinnan Regional and Dundrum Regional public piped water supplies, in addition to the public piped water supplies specified in the original regulations, and require the Tipperary (South Riding) County Council, acting as agents for the Board, to fluoridate the Ardfinnan Regional and Dundrum Regional public piped water supplies.

These Regulations implement EEC Directive 76/403/EEC* of 6 April, 1976 relating to the disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCB). These substances have been or are being used in electrical and other equipment. The Regulations replace the previous disposal provisions contained in the European Communities (Waste) (No. 2) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 388 of 1979 ) which are revoked.

These Regulations implement EEC Directive 75/439/EEC* of 16th June, 1975 on the disposal of waste oils.

The Regulations make local authorities responsible for the planning, organisation and supervision of disposal operations and introduce a permit system in respect of actual disposal undertaking. Local authorities are also empowered to require the keeping of records in respect of any premises on which more than 500 litres of waste oils is produced, collected or disposed of annually and may appoint an "authorised person" for inspection purposes.

These Regulations provide for increases in the fees payable in respect of roadworthiness vehicle tests and roadworthiness certificates; clarify the position of ownership where vehicles are being leased or are on hire purchase; provide for the replacement, free of charge, of certificates which have faded or become illegible; and allow a vehicle owner or user a period of ten days in which to produce a certificate when requested to do so by a member of the Garda Síochána.

The purpose of these Regulations is to give legal effect to Council Directives 73/404/EEC, 73/405/EEC, 82/242/EEC and 82/243/EEC relating to detergents and to methods of testing the biodegradability of anionic and non-ionic surfactants present in detergents. The Regulations also revoke the European Communities (Detergents) (No. 2) Regulations, 1975 ( S.I. No. 107 of 1975 ).

The Order revokes the Air Navigation (Noise Certification and Limitation) Order 1976 and gives effect to the noise certification and limitations standards of Annex 16, first edition, 1981 of the Chicago Convention.

These Regulations make the possession and use in falconry of birds of prey of the order Falconiformes subject to the granting of licences in that regard and provide for a charge for such licences. The Regulations also lay down the conditions under which a bird of the order Falconiformes may be taken from the wild or maintained.

Any person who fails to comply with these Regulations shall be guilty of an offence.
