IRISH ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION

The effect of this Order is to revoke the Wildlife (Wild Mammals) (Open Seasons) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 193 of 1979 ) and set hunting seasons for certain species of wild mammals.

These Regulations prescribe the fees payable in respect of applications for and the grant of aquaculture licences under the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23) for the culture of any aquatic plant or of any form of aquatic food suitable for the nutrition of fish.

These Regulations prescribe the Form of Declaration of Interests, required by section 33 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23), to be completed by the Chairperson and by all other members and Secretary of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board and by any consultant or adviser who may be engaged by the Board.

These Regulations provide for specified improvements in water quality conditions in rivers and lakes based on phosphorus concentrations or related water quality classifications. The Regulations also provide for periodic reporting in relation to progress in implementing the requirements of the Regulations.

These Regulations give effect to certain requirements arising under Council Directive 76/46/EC on pollution caused by certain dangerous substances discharged into the aquatic environment of the Community.

These Regulations prescribe the Environmental Protection Agency for consultation purposes prior to a local authority serving a notice requiring the preparation of a nutrient management plan under section 21A of the Local Government (Water Pollution) (Amendment) Act, 1990 as inserted by section 66 of the Waste Management Act, 1996 .

These Regulations establish, with effect from the 30th day of June 1998, procedures in relation to the making of applications for aquaculture licences and trial licences, including provisions for public notice and consultation, and also procedures for renewal and review of aquaculture licences, under the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23).

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Habitats Directive) Regulations, 1997 ( S.I. No. 94 of 1997 ) by providing that the Interpretation of the term "the Habitats Directive" in Regulation 2 be amended to include Council Directive No. 97/62/EC of 27 October 1997, adapting the Habitats Directive to technical and scientific progress.

Council Directive No. 97/62/EC of 27 October 1997 replaces Annex I and Annex II to the Habitats Directive with new Annexes in light of technical and scientific progress since the original Directive was adopted in 1992. Annex I lists the natural habitat types of Community interest whose conservation requires the designation of Special Areas of Conservation. Annex II lists the animal and plant species of Community interests whose conservation requires the designation of Special Areas of Conservation.
