EPA Environmental Resilience Lecture series- Innovation Driving a Green and Just Transition: Mission 2050

The EPA is partnering with the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) on a new environmental lecture series entitled ‘Environmental Resilience’.

There will be six virtual lectures in the series, which will cover themes including the circular economy, air quality, environmental governance, sustainable waste management, water quality and climate change. International experts will address these topics at public webinar events.

The first hour long lecture in the series will take place this Friday, 4th December at 1pm. Dr John Bell will present ‘Innovation Driving a Green and Just Transition: Mission 2050’

In this event, Dr John Bell will explain how research and innovation (R&I) is a key enabler in the drive towards a green and just transition. In his address, Dr Bell will examine the role of R&I in the context of the European Green Deal and the recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting pioneering R&I actions such as the proposed European Green Deal Missions. His presentation will also address opportunities for Ireland in the years ahead, with a focus on sectors such as the bioeconomy, resource sustainability and circularity, regional job growth, and ecosystem renewal.
